welcome to as.racing
Time to put my money where my mouth is - lets go racing!
The plan is to build a BMW Z3 1.9L race car to the Britcar Production Class 4 regulations, with the aim of achieving at least one class win. The project is a chance to take things too seriously, get too nerdy and ultimately have some fun with applied engineering. This blog is a way to document the project, build interest and showcase some of the engineering efforts behind the car.
But why a Z3? Aren't they, you know.... a bit of a hairdresser's car? Especially the 1.9L?
Well, yes they are. However, the Z3 was chosen as it's small, light weight, rear-wheeled drive and going cheap!
The 1.9L was chosen as it fits in with the Class 4 regulations and can be easily swapped later for a bigger one once the car is properly set-up and ready to take on the big boys in class 1!
